I HATE GUTTER POLITICS – EASTERN REGIONAL MINISTER BLASTS COLLEAGUE ASPIRANT
The Eastern Regional Minister Honorable Eric Kwakye Darfuor and MP for the Nkawkaw constituency has lamented over what he describes as ‘gutter politics’ being exhibited by an opponent as they set up for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries on June 20, 2020.
The contender Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng who moreover doubles as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Middle Belt Development Authority in charge of Eastern Region is alleging that she has been able to secure a sum of 2 million Ghana Cedis to redevelop the Nkawkaw sports stadium which for a long time has been in a state of decrepitude to meet the modern standard but her belief is that certain individuals have condoned and connived to put impediments in the process of commencing the project.
“I have secured funds from the Middle Belt Development Authority to redevelop Nkawkaw sports stadium but someone is pulling me at the back, the person wants us to finish with the primaries before the person allows me to cut the sod which is my greatest hindrance “lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng alleged on a media platform in Nkawkaw by name Agoo FM, a subsidiary of Excellence In Broadcasting Network (EIB).
The Eastern Regional Minister who is also MP for the Nkawkaw constituency believes the allegations by his contender are obviously directly leveled against him. “The woman is doing gutter politics, I will never pull someone back for the development of Nkawkaw and Kwahu as a whole because I love Nkawkaw and I am challenging the woman to mention the person preventing her from cutting the sod for the commencement of the project without fear to the whole public” he charged at a press conference he organized over the weekend in response to his challengers assertions together with the Youth and Sports Minister and MP for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti region, honorable Isaac Asiamah. The Minister for Youth and Sports explained that government is yet to commence work on the redevelopment of Nkawkaw sports stadium.
“I know what the woman is saying she is referring to me because among the aspirants who can prevent her from doing a developmental project apart from me the regional minister who is also the Member Of Parliament (MP) for the area, it means I’m the hindrance and I want Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng to name the person behind her pulling” he added.
What’s more, speaking to NANA DARKWA HOST OF OBUOBA FM’S MORNING SHOW, ‘Obuoba Kasa’ Monday morning the minister said he is ever ready to partner anybody who is ready to develop the stadium, Nkawkaw and entire Kwahu. “You cannot commence a project in a region with government money without the knowledge of the minister in-charge, we should take note of that so if Joyce says she has secured funds she should go through the appropriate quarters and stop that politics for sympathy votes” he counseled.
