Don’t get pregnant before you queue for health insurance card –Bibiani District Manager
The District manager for the National Health Insurance Authority in the Bibiani Ahwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region Mr. Gabriel Nketiah has urged Ghanaians to get their insurance cards before it is late. According to him most often people troop in to their offices to queue for cards only when they are sick or pregnant.
In an interview on Delight Fm’s Morning Show “Me Man Nti” the manager who is always worried about the influx of sick people who rush to register or renew their cards told Host Wofa Agyenim Boateng that, the situation which affects the authority’s modus operandi nationwide is gradually getting out of hand.
Customers of the scheme are expected to always keep their cards updated so that they can use them when needed especially in urgent situations. The observation is that most customers will wait until they fall sick before they will even search for their cards but in the case of pregnant women both the renewal and new registrations are free.
Mr. Nketiah said “most women will wait until they get pregnant before they will go and queue for their cards. I will plead with Ghanaians to take advantage of the mobile renewal so that the people that will come to the office will be reduced and don’t wait to be sick or pregnant before coming to our various offices for a new card or renewal” he said.
