Danger: Dilapidated old school block still in use at kwahu – Twendurase
A three unit classroom block constructed several years ago to serve the good people of Twenedurase has over the years diminished into ruins and turned into a death trap.
The Junior High School classroom blocks posing danger to students and teachers is located at Kwahu Twenedurase a suburb of Kwahu Obo in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
Honorable Daniel Ofosu Darfour, the Assembly Member for Twenedurase Electoral Area told Host Wofa Agyenim Boateng on Delight Fm’s Morning Show “Me Man Nti”, that the building has seen no renovation works since its construction seventy eight years ago.
The roofing sheets are in tatters, the entire building is weak making it inconvenient for teaching and learning.
“We really need urgent help. The sight of the classroom blocks are heart-breaking,” he said.
“Once there are signals of rains, the students are asked to go home because of fear of collapse of the building. Aside the fear that grips the teachers, there are leakages which make it impossible to have them under the roof during rainy seasons” he added.
He recalled portions of the classroom block collapsed years ago.
“The students were in the classroom when it collapsed. Fortunately, none died,” he remarked while expressing gratitude to God for sparing the lives of the students.
