35% of eligible voters to decline EC registration while 48% lace their boots to register-Chamber of Local Governance
A survey conducted by the Chamber of Local Governance has revealed that, 35 percent of eligible voters will not go out and register for the new voters’ card.
The survey which was triggered by the corona virus disease saw most Ghanaians who register for the voter card to use it for their important transactions rather than its main purpose of voting.
About 48 percent of eligible voters are also lacing their boots to register and vote for their preferred candidates in the upcoming December 7, 2020 elections.
Explaining the outcome of the survey to Wofa Agyenim Boateng On Delight Fm’s Morning Show, the president of the Chamber, Dr. Richard Fiadomor stated that about 10 percent of the voter population are yet to decide on whether to register or not while 7 percent will make their decision on the day of registration in accordance with the number of COVID-19 cases the country has recorded.
“Most Ghanaians are of the view that they have Ghana cardS so why should I worry myself and go and queue for voter card and contract corona virus while I can use the Ghana card to do all my transactions because I’m not interested voter” he said.
